GET OFF SOCIAL MEDIA BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

Well, that title might sound a little dramatic, but honestly, it’s not. Because in my opinion, and we know I have plenty, it’s already too late. Social media has already done its damage. The longer we stay trapped in it, the more it takes from us.

What’s wild is that most people don’t even realize they’re addicted to working for free. Every post, every story, every video…it’s all unpaid labor for the sake of a few seconds of digital dopamine. You give your time, your energy, your creativity, and your attention to platforms that reward you with likes that mean nothing the moment you close the app. It’s a trade that slowly drains you, leaving behind comparison, insecurity, and, for some, a quiet kind of depression that sneaks in the longer you scroll. You don’t have to admit it… but facts are facts.

I’ve started practicing a different kind of discipline. For me, it’s a new level of self awareness. I already limit my social media use to “work only,” but lately I’ve been feeling something different in the air online. It feels heavy. It feels forced. There’s this dense energy that makes even the most creative spaces feel cluttered and empty at the same time.

And truthfully, I’m glad I started shifting away from it. Over the past year, I’ve been posting less on social platforms and focusing more on my website and my own digital spaces. I think I mentioned this in another blog, but it’s worth saying again…owning your space online matters. You don’t need to rely on social media to share your thoughts, your work, or your creativity. Because when you depend on it, you give someone else the power to silence you.

Social media once felt like a tool, but now it feels like a trap. We’ve traded our peace of mind for the illusion of connection. We’ve let algorithms tell us what matters, who we should follow, and how we should feel. It’s crazy when you think about it, these little devices have the power to shape how we see, think, and understand the world.

Every time I write about this, I feel like I’m a hundred and nine years old, shaking my head at how far we’ve drifted from real living. But the truth is, very few people see the shift. Each day, during my sessions or workshops, someone reminds me how necessary it is for us to disconnect. Not forever, but enough to remember who we are without the noise.

So this is your reminder: get off social media before it’s too late. Not just to escape it, but to reclaim yourself. To feel what real stillness is like again. To think for yourself. To create because you want to, not because you think it will perform well.

Now… so we’re clear, I’m not saying go cold turkey and stop using it period. I’m staying give yourself more time in reality before you give yourself time in the digital space, especially if it doesn’t serves any purpose other than to make your feel bad. Remember you can do the same thing in person as you do on line, and trust me… it feels ten times better.

And if you need help finding that balance, that creative discipline, or even learning how to create with purpose again, let’s work together. Schedule a 1:1 creative direction session with me, and let’s figure out how to build something real, something that exists beyond the scroll.

Hope this helps,

-B
