News flash: if you’re not scheduling your posts, then what are you doing?
I’ve said this a hundred times verbally, and I’ve dropped it here before on my blog. But just like most things people skim over, the ones who don’t read are the ones missing out on the information that could actually help them. And honestly, that’s the crazy part…people want things spoon fed. They want the result without the process. When did we, as humans, become so allergic to effort?
See, here’s the thing. There was a time when scheduling your posts was a premium service. You had to pay for a platform to do what your own apps now do for free. A whole industry was built around making sure your posts went out at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday because somebody convinced you that’s when your audience was awake. Those platforms still exist, and people still pay them…because most don’t realize you can schedule posts directly inside apps like Facebook and Instagram. In fact, you can even cross-schedule them. Post to one and it shoots over to the other. Imagine a few hours of intentional work buying you days of peace. That’s the trade off: you put in the front end effort so the back end looks effortless.
And this is where people miss it. Social media is this funny thing…it’s “unpaid until it’s paid.” It feels like a full-time job without the salary until something breaks through. But if you treat it like a job, like a system you’re in control of, you can bend it to work for you instead of the other way around.
Most people compliment me on my posting rate and the content I push out. They’ll say, “Man, you’re always consistent, always putting something out.” To me, that’s lazy praise. I know I could do more. If I wanted to play the game full time, I’d flood timelines and dominate algorithms. But that’s not who I am. If you’ve been following me, you know I’d rather live in the real world. I want to shake hands, touch spaces, create memories offline. Social media is a tool for me, not my whole identity. That’s why I’ve mastered finding the middle ground…enough to stay in the algorithm pool, but not drowning in it.
And my fix? I schedule everything. Stories, posts, reels, even blogs like this one. That way, social media doesn’t control my time, my emotions, or my stress levels. It becomes automated. All I have to do is check in when necessary…respond to a comment, reshare something, or engage with someone who engages with me. To the outside eye, it looks like I’m running multiple pages at a high level, and in a way, I am. But the reality is I’m just using the tools I have to their fullest potential. “Media isn’t real until we push it to the feed”, so I decide when and how it hits.
That’s the superpower. Not the constant posting. Not the fake grind of being glued to your phone. The superpower is creating systems that allow you to live life while still showing up online. The superpower is automation that still feels personal.
Because let’s be real, your posts, your content, your brand… they don’t mean much if you’re too burned out to actually enjoy the life you’re documenting.
So here’s my call to you:
Stop playing catch up with your own ideas. Stop letting your phone dictate your mood for the day. Start scheduling your posts. Build your system. Let the machine work for you so you can get back to creating, living, and actually having something worth posting about.
And if you’re reading this and thinking, “Okay, Brandon…but where do I start? How do I create a system that feels like mine?” that’s where a 1:1 Creative Direction comes in. That’s where I step in. Sometimes you need someone to help you set up the structure, align the visuals, and build the rhythm so you’re not just posting randomly but with purpose. If you’re serious about taking control of your content and your time, reach out. Let’s build your system together. Because scheduling posts might just be the smallest shift with the biggest return you’ll ever make.
Hope this helps,
