This year and beyond, I want you to tell yourself that. No doubts. No fears. No questions. I am telling myself the same thing. And if you are anything like me, which you probably are not, then I highly suggest you take these words and make them your daily mantra. Say it until it sticks. Say it until it feels true.
But I would not be me if I did not break down these words that inspired the title of this blog, pulled from the great Musiq Soulchild, and explain what they actually mean to me.
No Doubts
Although it sounds self explanatory, doubts are always there. That is the tricky thing about words. They can mean something completely different depending on who is reading them and the context they are placed in.
When I say no doubts, I mean no doubts within yourself. I am a firm believer that what we feel internally eventually shines through externally. If we doubt ourselves, people can see it. It shows in how we speak, how we move, and how we hesitate.
No doubts in what we are capable of either. Let us be honest with ourselves for a moment. Deep down, we know exactly what we are and are not capable of. Most of the time it is not doubt holding us back. It is fear of the unknown. It is fear of what happens if we actually try.
Which brings me to fear. Man, what a great segue. I swear my writing is getting better and better. You probably think this is A.I., and honestly, if you do, I am impressed.
But while I am here, I want to leave a receipt for my future self. A moment frozen in time so I know exactly where I was when I wrote this.
It is currently 00:52. I am sitting in the lot with you, listening to your playlist, and of course it is hitting. If you ever look back at the times of certain blogs, you will see they were inspired in this exact moment. And you were right there with me. How fucking special. If you are reading this, tell me so I know.
P.S. I finished that paragraph when Maxwell’s “Whenever Wherever Whatever” came on.
Alright Brandon, back to it. Your ADHD is showing.
No Fear
No fear within. This is something I have always practiced, and I truly believe it is the main reason I have succeeded in anything. Whenever I am afraid of something, I ask myself why. Then I run toward it head first. Because what am I really afraid of?
That is when I realized fear is just a feeling, not an action. As simple as that sounds, I know you are probably thinking, damn, he is right.
Fear keeps you stuck. It keeps you stagnant. Afraid to do the thing you want to do because you are too busy making lame excuses as to why you cannot.
No fear of people and what you feel they may think of you either. That will hold you back faster than anything else. A wise man once said people can see your light. Some will praise you, remind you of it, and push you forward. Others will dislike it, try to dim it, sabotage it, and repeat the cycle.
But none of that has anything to do with you or the blessings you carry. Whatever it is you hold, that is yours. And that is something you have to know within.
No Questions
Lastly, no questions.
No questions when it comes to the things your brain tells you to do, assuming it is nothing bad. You do not question it. It came to you for a reason. I do not care if it is get up and take a walk to the park or fly to Miami today just for lunch. You do not question it.
You never know where life will take you. Most of the things you have asked for are already out there waiting. Sometimes the only thing required is movement.
No questions when it comes to your capabilities and your capacity either. Like I said above, you know. You always have.
This year, I hope you remind yourself of who you are. It might get lonely at times, and that is when you remember you have free will. As they say, there are allegedly eight billion people on this earth. So get out there and say hi.
I hope this helps.
