We’re in different creative spaces, and… that’s okay.

That’s right, no matter your creativity, whether in the same genre or with similarities, it comes from you, so it’s inherently different. The DNA is different, the process is different, and so are the rewards. These are things I’ve literally told myself, and it’s always been an understanding within me.

I enjoy this blogging thing because it’s a great place to journal, teach, learn, and share with those who are willing to listen. Knowing that I’m contributing, no matter how small, gives me that “little” fix of daily dopamine I need.

Okay, now where were we? We’re in different creative spaces, and… that’s okay. This quote inspired this initial thought. Day in and day out, I get to meet all kinds of creatives, whom I now call “Creators.” I get to learn more about them, myself, and so much more. Over the last nine years, I’ve learned that one of the most common traits among us is “comparison,” which I consider the brother of fear and the sister of self-doubt. We can delve into those later.

Comparison, and please correct me if I missed the mark here, is something we all experience. It’s natural to look at someone else’s work and measure it against our own. However, it’s essential to remember that every creative journey is unique. Your voice, your vision, and your process are what set you apart. Embrace the differences, and let them fuel your creativity rather than hinder it.

As someone who’s been navigating my own creative path, I’ve picked up a few tips that have worked for me, and I’d love to share them with you:

  1. Embrace Your Uniqueness: Your individuality is your superpower. Don’t try to conform to what others are doing. Instead, let your unique perspective shine through your work.
  2. Stay Curious: Never stop learning. Whether it’s a new technique, a different medium, or even a new hobby, staying curious keeps your creative juices flowing and opens up new possibilities.
  3. Create Regularly: Make creativity a habit. Even on days when you don’t feel inspired, creating something—anything—helps maintain momentum and keeps your skills sharp.
  4. Connect with Other Creatives: Building a network of like-minded individuals can provide support, inspiration, and opportunities for collaboration. Attend events, join communities, and engage with others online and offline.
  5. Take Breaks: Burnout is real, and it can stifle creativity. Don’t be afraid to step away from your work to recharge. Sometimes, the best ideas come when you’re not actively trying to be creative.
  6. Reflect on Your Progress: Take time to look back at your journey. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, and learn from your challenges. This reflection can provide motivation and insight into your growth.

We’re all navigating our own creative paths, and the beauty lies in that diversity. So, let’s celebrate our unique journeys and continue to create, learn, and grow together. After all, we’re in different creative spaces, and… that’s more than okay.

Hope this helps,
